Greek fruits will return to the Russian market
Possible ways to ease the embargo on food imports from a number of EU countries, such as Greece, Cyprus and Hungary, are being discussed at the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, according to Minister Nikolai Fyodorov. The Russian Ministry of Agriculture is considering the possibility of excluding some Greek products (strawberries, peaches and oranges) from the Russian embargo after a request from the Deputy Minister of Rural Development of Greece Panagiotis Sgouridi. Their meeting took place at the DETROP exhibition.
“We are actively studying how to respond to such a request in a civilized manner,” Fyodorov said, noting that this primarily applies to Greece, Hungary and Cyprus, but “it would not be desirable to create problems in relations between these countries and Brussels.”
